I have been creating artwork for as long as I can remember, in every form, with every media, in every creative way I could imagine. The results became clear after years and years of experimenting, graduating with an Associates in Fine Art and riding my artistic wave in life, that I was a mixed media artist, illustrator. My customers have enjoyed my art through the juried art shows in Michigan and surrounding states for over 19 years.
My creative process is unique. I prepare the 140lb. watercolor paper to size and tape off the edges for a raw look. I then sketch my main image with pencil. I use india ink to outline my shapes with a paintbrush. Next steps are the fun part, watercolor washes. I paint one color at a time to insure that there is no bleeding into other colors or shapes. This keeps my watercolor washes vibrant, clear and deep. I use salt, rubbing alcohol, bubble wrap, plastic and other objects to create lots and lots of texture while the paint is still wet. I then let the pieces dry and meticulously detail each one with high quality prisma and metallic alcohol ink markers. I finish most of the pieces with a ¼ inch hand stamped quote giving it a final bit of inspiration and character. Seeing peoples reactions when they read the quotes on my artwork is my favorite part. There are always lots of smiles and personal connections to the art in my booth!
I utilize the original images to bring life and function to everyday objects. Magnets, coasters, wall plaques, limited edition fine art prints, trinket boxes and other things used in daily life. I believe art should find a way into anything it can, not just a painting hanging on wall. This is my little gift of positive and happy things for all to enjoy.
