About the Juror
Juror - Barbara Bushey
Barbara Bushey has been working in textiles for over 25 years and is currently an art professor at Hillsdale College. Barbara has an extensive educational background. She earned a BS in psychology from the University of Michigan, a BFA and MFA from Eastern Michigan University and a MA in art history from Wayne State University. Barbara’s work has appeared in many juried shows nationally and internationally. She has permanent work in the collections of the White House, the University of Wyoming, Hillsdale College and numerous private collections. Her work has been published in Art/Quilt Magazine and Surface Design Journal. Barbara serves on the board of Fiber Arts Network. She states, “My main interest as an artist is layering. The great complexities of the world seem best explored thru layered constructions. My work seeks to explore what is hidden and what is revealed—whether in a visual, emotional or historical sense. These possibilities attract me visually, rationally and intuitively… I derive much inspiration from the land and water of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and am lucky to share this glorious life with my husband and family.” More information can be found on her website, www.barbarabusheyart.com.

About the Michigan League of Handweavers
The Michigan League of Handweavers (MLH) was founded in 1959 to promote handweaving. The League welcomes anyone interested in handweaving or the many related aspects of fiber art and craft. The League provides opportunities for members to come together to learn and to exchange ideas by sponsoring lectures, workshops, conferences and exhibits. As a non-profit, educational organization, they also provide seed money for events around the state. More info can be found at mlhguild.org.
MLH members look forward to the biennial exhibition because it gives them the opportunity to present their most recent work to a wide audience, and it is a good opportunity for the audience to see what trends and ideas are currently developing in the state-wide fiber arts community.
