Internships & Scholarships

Theatre Intern

Job Type: Internship/Part-Time

Applications Due: June 1, 2024

Overview:

Great opportunity for high school students, college students, or recent college graduates with a focus in Theatre Administration, Technical Theatre, and/or Stage Management. Gain valuable, hands-on experience with the LowellArts Theatre program as an Assistant Producer of all theatrical productions – including a youth play. Interns will also be expected to Stage Manage the spring production.

Qualifications:

  • Access to transportation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work well in diverse groups

  • Flexibility and ability to handle change in a positive manner

  • Previous Stage Management experience (Preferred)

Pay:

$900 stipend ($100/month)

 

Time Commitment & Schedule:

This internship will run for 9 months through the 2024-2025 school year, beginning at the start of August and ending at the end of April. Required availability during office hours Tuesday-Friday between 10am-6pm, some weekends for production performances, weekday evenings for production rehearsals when Stage Managing.

 

Minimum Time Requirement:

10 hours per month – weekly hours may vary. Participation as Stage Manager will increase the number of hours per week.

Gallery Intern

Job Type: Internship/Part-Time

Applications Due: June 1, 2024

Overview:

Great opportunity for college students with a focus in Art/Fine Art/Studio Art, Art History, and/or Arts Management. Gain valuable, hands-on experience with the LowellArts Gallery program as an assistant to all visual arts programming. Duties may include but are not limited to: assisting with all aspects of an exhibition process from art drop-off to art pick-up, prepping gallery walls, installing artwork, exhibition lighting, greeting gallery patrons, gallery promotions, event coordination, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Access to transportation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work well in diverse groups

  • Flexibility and ability to handle change in a positive manner

  • Lift 50 pounds

  • No fear of heights

  • Operate and handle an 8 foot ladder

 

Pay:

Unpaid – Students wishing to gain college credit must provide appropriate paperwork in accordance with their school’s requirements.

 

Time Commitment & Schedule:

Internship applications are accepted for spring, summer, and fall academic terms. Required availability during office hours Tuesday-Friday between 10am-6pm, and some weekends for special events.

 

Minimum Time Requirement:

4 hours per week – weekly hours may vary.

Scholarships

Applications Due: February 20, 2024

Overview:

LowellArts administers two scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 – The Lousie Harper Memorial Scholarship and The LowellArts Scholarship. The scholarship awards are made based on a competitive process which considers academic achievement, extracurricular activities, a statement of the applicant’s personal aspirations and goals, and financial need. Applicants will be considered for both scholarships.

 

Available Scholarships:

  • The Louise Harper Memorial Scholarship is an annual award established by Louise’s friends and family in her memory. Each year, an outstanding graduating high school senior pursuing a continued education in the fine arts (including visual art, theatre, music, dance, and film) will be selected to receive this celebrated scholarship.

  • LowellArts Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to an outstanding graduating high school senior pursuing a continued education in the fine arts (including visual art, theatre, music, dance, and film).

 

How to Apply:

To apply for both scholarships, students must submit an online application form and upload supplemental attachments to the form no later than February 20, 2024 by 3:00 pm.
