10-Minute Play Submissions

LowellArts Theatre presents "Playbytes by Playwrights: A 10-Minute Play Festival" with scheduled performance dates of October 18, 19, 20 & 25, 26, 27, 2024. Approximately 8-10 plays will be selected to be produced.

2024 Theme: No Idea is a Bad Idea

Submission Deadline: Friday, May 31, 2024

Entry Fee: $25

Member Entry Fee: $20

 

Submission Requirements:

• Playwright must be 18 years or older.

• Only one submission per playwright will be accepted.

• Plays submitted must be original works not previously performed at LowellArts.

• Plays must be approximately 10 minutes (8-12 pages) in length.

• Plays can be drama or comedy, and must fit the theme of "No Idea is a Bad Idea.”

• Plays must be producible on a limited budget with minimal production values, suitable for a black box style theater.

 

Note:

The selection process will require playwright anonymity – please keep the playwright's name on the submission form and cover page of the script only. Plays will be evaluated on cohesion to the theme, feasibility of production, and run time.

 

Prizes:

Two cash prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges – a 1st place $500 prize, and a 2nd place $200 prize. A People's Choice Award will be voted on by the audience, and the winner will receive a non-cash award.

LowellArts is a not-for-profit organization. Funds received will be put toward the $500 and $200 cash prizes and will support the theatre programs and activities at LowellArts. Thank you for your support!
