Needle Felted Ladybug

Saturday, May 20, 9:30am-12:00pm

In this beginner friendly needle felting class, students will have the opportunity to create little ladybug sculptures using wool and barbed felting needles. Class instruction will include wool types used, needle safety precautions and proper use, how to create a form using core wool, and adding exterior details with dyed wool. Examples and demonstration of techniques will be provided. Completed ladybugs will vary in size, from 1”-2” in length, and students will be able to complete 1, or more before the end of class. Plenty of wool colors will be available to choose from.

Samantha Coon is a self-taught artist, working in both wet and needle felting. She was introduced to felting in 2009 while living in mid-coast Maine. She has taught classes to both children and adults that include projects using resists, both sculptural and wearable, surface design techniques, working with pre-felts, and introductory needle felting.
