Needle Felted Rooster

Saturday, August 12, 2:00pm-5:00pm

This folk-style needle felted rooster project combines the process of creating a sculpture and adding beautiful exterior details using a variety of dyed wool colors. Class instruction includes wool types and supplies used, needle safety and proper use, creating the sculpture using core wool, and adding exterior details to finish the project. These rooster will vary in size, though the average height is 3-4". Beginners are welcome, as well as those with previous experience. Rooster examples will be provided.

• Class Fee: $40 ($36 for LowellArts Members). Fee includes materials.

Samantha Coon is a self-taught artist, working in both wet and needle felting. She was introduced to felting in 2009 while living in mid-coast Maine. She has taught classes to both children and adults that include projects using resists, both sculptural and wearable, surface design techniques, working with pre-felts, and introductory needle felting.
